LEEDS West MP Rachel Reeves made a real splash for local politics when she excused herself from Parliament to take part in a sponsored swim for the campaign to save Bramley Baths.
Miss Reeves put on her swimming costume to attempt 107 lengths of the 23 metre pool – one for each year that the historic baths have been open.
She was joined by youngsters from Bramley and Whitecote primary schools.
Money raised from the sponsored swim will go towards the campaign, and to the drawing up of a possible community buy-out plan.
Miss Reeves said: “I have had a fantastic time.
“I have been out-swum by seven and eight-year-olds, but it was such a fun afternoon and the kids had a wonderful time swimming in this beautiful pool”.
