Leeds United striker Marcus Antonsson is being linked with a move to Massimo Cellino’s Italian club Brescia.
Antonsson has been targeted by the Serie B side with his contract at Elland Road 12 months from expiry and Leeds looking to move him off their wage bill in this transfer window.
The Swedish forward has been surplus to requirements since last summer and a loan at Blackburn Rovers this season, ending in automatic promotion from League One, failed to force his way back into United’s plans.
His impact at Leeds has been limited since he moved to England from Kalmar in 2016, at a time when Cellino was owner of the Elland Road club.
He scored three goals in 21 appearances in his first year but was a bit-part player under former head coach Garry Monk and was allowed to join Blackburn on a season-long deal last August.
Cellino bought control of Brescia after selling Leeds to Andrea Radrizzani 12 months ago and is trying to improve a side who finished 16th in Serie B this season.
Former Cagliari striker David Suazo was named as Brescia’s new head coach last week.
