"Weapons" - Marco Rose makes Leeds United admission with praise for Whites attacker and Bournemouth plan
Bournemouth boss Marco Rose on Leeds United and Saturday’s Premier League clash against the Whites.
Marco Rose has made a Leeds United admission of the test facing his Bournemouth side in Saturday's Premier League clash at the Vitality with praise for a Whites attacker but Cherries plan.
Former RB Salzburg, Borussia Monchengladbach, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig boss Rose was announced as outgoing Cherries boss Andoni Iraola’s replacement in April, Iraola leaving the club after three fine years in charge and eventually taking over at Liverpool.
Bournemouth then failed to win any of their first six league games under Rose - three of those fixtures ending in defeat - but the Cherries have suddenly hit lift off, Rose’s impressive team having won their last five games in all competitions without conceding a single goal.
Rose, though, has now made a frank admission of the test facing his side in Saturday’s visit of Daniel Farke’s seventh-placed Whites, serving up praise for the team as a whole and in particular Whites no 9 Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Speaking at Friday’s pre-match press conference, Rose was asked how difficult it would be to break Leeds down
"Difficult,” he admitted.
“They are quite compact, really committed in working out of possession against the ball, diligent, intense, good in duels and they have a good balance between simple solutions and a really good in possession game, so a good team, a tough challenge for us and we need to be ready for this challenge."
“Top striker, always threatens a back line, it's difficult to defend him”
Asked if it was a just a collective or if there were one or two players who could be really dangerous for a side who has lost just two of their last 17 games, Rose declared: “Many weapons, set pieces, throw ins, Calvert-Lewin, top striker, always threatens a back line, it's difficult to defend him.
"The wing backs, really good, they are quite flexible in their possession game so unpredictable what they do, how they do it, they drop, they roll out, they overload spaces so you just have to be ready.
"But we are going to have a good match plan and we feel confident and in a good spot."It's a home game and we know that the Premier League is our bread and butter and we have two Premier League wins now - good."We won two Premier League games in a row but we need and we want more.”
