Leeds United squad ambition clear as Elland Road favourite admits 'we all want more'
Leeds United were hard to beat at Sunderland but once again lacked the quality to win.
Tarik Muharemovic insists the demand for more is what makes Leeds United such a special club.
Muharemovic and his Leeds teammates left Sunderland with a point on Sunday following an ugly 0-0 draw in a windswept Stadium of Light. Neither side were able to show their quality in the final third but both defended well in difficult conditions.
Leeds have now lost just one of their eight Premier League games but at the same time, have only two wins to their name. Three draws against struggling opposition have been a cause of fan frustration given the Whites failed to score from open play in all three of those stalemates.
Goalkeeper James Trafford admitted a feeling of disappointment in not coming away from the Stadium of Light with what he felt was a deserved three points. And fellow summer arrival Muharemovic has appeared to echo that sentiment.
In a post on Instagram, Muharemovic wrote: “We all want more, and that’s what makes this club and our fans so special! Thank you for your incredible support week in, week out.
“It really means a lot to us! We take the positives from the result and look ahead to the next one. MOT.”
Leeds have proven very difficult to beat so far this season thanks mainly to Muharemovic and his defensive teammates. The 23-year-old is part of the Premier League’s second strongest defence with only Arsenal conceding fewer than their six goals.
That hard-to-beat nature has been good enough to keep Leeds in the top-half but even one extra win would have lifted them up to fifth. Like Muharemovic, Trafford wanted more from Sunday’s game and laid out what was being done to turn one point into three.
“Yeah, it shows the level of us [that we’re disappointed],” the shot-stopper said. “It shows how far the club has progressed, given the second season, and we're away from home, and we believe we could have won. So yeah, it shows that we're going in the right direction.
“I think every team that draws, if you can turn them into wins, then you're in a great position and it's something that we're trying to do and trying to improve on. So, yeah, every game we go in to try and win, regardless of who we're playing, and that's the mindset we have.
“Yeah, we go every day to just try and improve. The more days you win the better stage you're in for the long run.”
