Leeds school Covid cases: full list of confirmed coronavirus tests, closures and impact on year group bubbles

When schools reopened to all children and young people in September, guidance was issued to schools to try and minimise the risk of spreading Covid-19 and outlining contingency plans in the case of a local outbreak.

Speaking on July 2, Education Secretary Gavin Williamson told the House of Commons: "It is critical to ensure that no child loses more time in education."

Schools were told to avoid large gatherings, such as assemblies, and to avoid singing in larger groups, such as school choirs and ensembles.

This guidance also included keeping pupils in class or year-sized “bubbles”.

This means there is no mixing between the "bubble" groups in classrooms, corridors and other open areas.

It allows schools to easily identify those who may need to self-isolate if someone within the "bubble" tests positive for the virus

This means if a pupil tests positive in one "bubble", only that "bubble" will need to isolate and not the other "bubbles", limiting the impact on each year group.

Since schools reopened in Leeds, a number of "bubbles" have been affected by positive coronavirus cases.

Roundhay School

The Year 9 bubble was disbanded on Tuesday, September 15.

Roundhay St John's Church Of England Primary School

The Year 6 bubble was disbanded on Tuesday, September 15.

Woodhouse Grove

The school was notified about the positive Covid-19 test on Wednesday, September 9.

Bardsey Primary School

The acting headteacher at Bardsey Primary School confirmed that a member of staff tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday, September 4.

Lighthouse Free School Academy

Lighthouse Free School Academy on Hospital Lane, Leeds, was closed until September 21 according to the Leeds Council website.

Castleton Primary School

The parents of Year Four pupils at Castleton Primary School in Wortley were sent a letter on Friday, September 11 confirming that someone had tested positive for Covid-19.

Allerton High School

A Year 11 student tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday, September 16.

The Rodillian Academy

The Rodillian Academy confirmed that a Year 11 student had tested positive for the virus on Monday, September 14.

Leeds East Academy

A Year 8 pupil at the secondary academy, in Seacroft, tested positive for the virus after developing symptoms on Monday, September 14.

A staff member later tested positive for coronavirus.

Pudsey Grangefield School

Pupils were sent home after two people tested positive for coronavirus at Pudsey Grangefield School on Thursday, September 17.

Quarry Mount Primary

Quarry Mount Primary in Pennington Street, Woodhouse, had to close on Wednesday, September 16 after three people tested positive for coronavirus.

Lawnswood School

Two people tested positive for coronavirus on Friday, September 18.

Leeds City College

Five members of staff and one student tested positive for coronavirus at Leeds City College, it was confirmed on Friday, September 18.

Hunslet St. Mary's CE Primary School

Year 4 pupils were sent home after a child tested positive for coronavirus, it was confirmed on Monday, September 21.

Little London Primary School

A staff member was confirmed to have tested positive for coronavirus on Friday, September 18.

Woodkirk Academy

Woodkirk Academy, in Rein Road, confirmed that someone tested positive on Monday, September 21.

On Thursday, September 24, the school confirmed three cases of coronavirus at the school - a single case in Year 13 and two in Year 11.

Royds School

A year eight pupil at Royds School in Leeds tested positive for the virus, the school confirmed on Tuesday, September 22.

The Ruth Gorse Academy

Ruth Gorse Academy confirmed that two pupils tested positive on Friday, September 18.

Farnley Academy

Farnley Academy confirmed that two staff and one pupil tested positive on Friday, September 18.

Boston Spa Academy

Boston Spa Academy confirmed that one pupil tested positive on Friday, September 18.

Hillcrest Academy

Hillcrest Academy confirmed that one pupil tested positive on Friday, September 18.

Bruntcliffe Academy

Bruntcliffe Academy confirmed that one pupil tested positive on Friday, September 18.

Carr Manor Community School

Lucie Lakin, Principal of Carr Manor Community School, Leeds, said the school received confirmation of a positive case in Year 11 on Tuesday, September 22.

Leeds West Academy

Principal Daniel Whieldon said the "difficult decision" had been made to collapse the year 9 bubble from Thursday to an estimated date of October 3.

Abbey Grange Academy

Year 9 pupils at Abbey Grange Academy, West Park, are expected to study at home until Friday, October 9. Abbey Grange principal Jon Norden said the decision had been made due to an increase in Covid-19 cases amongst staff and pupils, including three pupils in year 9. It was confirmed on Thursday, October 1.

Manston Primary School

The reception class at Manston Primary School in Dennil Road, Cross Gates, were sent home after a positive coronavirus case was confirmed on Monday, September 28.

Swarcliffe Primary School

A Year 2 class has been sent home after a positive coronavirus case was confirmed at Swarcliffe Primary School, in Swarcliffe Drive, on Tuesday, September 29.

SLP College

SLP College on Chapel Lane in Garforth has confirmed a total of 78 staff and students tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday, October 7.

Manor Wood Primary School

Staff at Manor Wood Primary School in Carr Manor Road made the "difficult decision" to close the whole school after a number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday, October 7.

Seven Hills Primary School

The Year 5 group bubble at Seven Hills Primary School has been disbanded and children sent home after a positive case of coronavirus. The confirmation came on Tuesday September 29.

Co-op Academy Priesthorpe

A total of 27 pupils are self-isolating after a positive coronavirus case at Co-op Academy Priesthorpe. The school confirmed the positive case in Year 10 on October 6.
