Students sent home from Leeds secondary school after positive coronavirus case

A small number of students have been sent home to self isolate from a Leeds secondary school after a positive coronavirus case.

Lucie Lakin, Principal of Carr Manor Community School, Leeds, said the school received confirmation of a positive case in Year 11 on Tuesday morning. (Sep 22)

Following procedures and further advice, the school identified everyone who had significant contact with the case.

A small number of students have now been asked to self-isolate at home in line with national guidance, the principal said.

Lucie Lakin said: "We received confirmation of a positive case affecting Year 11 on Tuesday morning.

"Following the robust procedures that we have in place, we contacted the Department for Education for further advice and, as directed, have identified everyone who has had significant contact with the case.

"A small number affected were sent home and asked to self-isolate in line with national guidance.

“The safety and wellbeing of our whole school community continues to be our main priority and we have safety procedures and risk assessments in place to help limit the spread of the virus.

"We are grateful to students and parents/carers for their ongoing support.”
