All pupils in the Year 8 bubble have been told they must isolate for 14 days in accordance with the Government’s Test and Trace Programme, even if they do not have symptoms.

Other members of the household do not need to self-isolate unless the child starts to show symptoms of Covid-19.

A deep clean of the academy is taking place following the positive case and all other year groups have been told to attend school.

In a letter sent to Year 8 parents, the school's principal Sarah Carrie said: "Please be vigilant for these symptoms and if your child starts to display any of them, it would then be necessary for all other members of your household to self-isolate for 14 days.

"If your child does start to display symptoms, please can we also ask that you inform the academy as soon as possible.

"The safety and welfare of all our staff and children remains our top priority

"We continue to undertake thorough cleaning of the whole academy and will also undertake a ‘micro bile mist fogging’ deep clean (this is a safe and robust additional cleaning process that disinfects large areas and kills 99.99% of known viruses, germs and bacteria) in the appropriate areas of the academy following this positive case.

"Please be aware that a further communication will be circulated tomorrow outlining the work pupils will need to complete during the period of 14 day self-isolation."
