The first Leeds Festival acts have taken to the stage as fans look forward to seeing Friday night headliners The 1975.

For those yet to arrive, there is congestion on the A1(M) and M62 to be navigated but a closure on the A64 due to an earlier accident has now been lifted.

Leeds Festival live updates as police investigate death of 16-year-old boy

Why people can’t wait to see the Artic Monkeys

When our reporter Tom Coates asked which act people were most looking forward to watching today, there was one name on everyone’s lips.

Pendulum secret set confirmed

Pendulum have been confirmed as one of the secret sets at Bramham Park.

The Australian electronic rock band will perform on the Dance Stage at 7.05pm today.

The group’s lead singer had previously dropped strong hints at a set in a cryptic Instagram post.

Excitement building for Arctic Monkeys

Our reporter Tom Coates is back in the arena for the third day of Leeds Festival - and there is one band on everyone’s minds.

He said: “Sheffield is taking over Leeds tonight and for one night only, Leeds doesn’t mind.

“Steel City rockers Bring Me The Horizon will be headlining the Main Stage West before the eagerly anticipated return of their Sheffield counterparts Arctic Monkeys over on the Main Stage East.

“The crowd at the Main Stage East is already thickening and it is clear from speaking to people that they have one eye already on the headliners.

“It is not surprising, considering Arctic Monkeys emerged from the mid-noughties era of leather jacket indie not only as survivors, but as victors.

“Alex Turner and co now blend their classics in which they discuss nightclub bouncers and love rivals with their new, evolved sound.

“One festival-goer told me the Arctic Monkeys are ‘the best band on the planet’.

“Plenty in attendance would agree.”

Could we see a surprise appearance from Ed Sheeran?

Hopes of an Ed Sheeran appearance at Leeds Festival have been sparked after he joined Bring Me The Horizon at Reading Festival.

The global star returned the favour after BMTH performed alongside him at the BRIT Awards earlier this year.

There was glorious sunshine and headline shows from Dave and Megan Thee Stallion.

‘He knew every word’’: Dave invites fan to perform on stage

Our reporter-on-the-ground Tom Coates was in the middle of the action for Dave’s headline set last night.

He said it drew in a huge crowd - far bigger than The 1975’s set on Friday.

Tom said: “In traditional Dave fashion, the rapper welcomed a member of the crowd to the stage for hit track ‘Thiago Silva’.

The song features AJ Tracey and one lucky attendee took on the role of the Brixton-born wordsmith.

Hats off to the lad, he knew every word.””
