The Leeds-born 21-year-old made 11 first team appearances for Rhinos – all as a substitute – before leaving the club at the end of last season, with a year still remaining on his contract. As exclusively reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, he was offered a trial by Hull KR and has now signed on for the next two seasons.
“I’m over the moon to be signing,” Ruan said. “The opportunity to come here was something I knew I had to grab with both hands and throw myself into. The trajectory of the club is something I’d love to be part of and I think this club is the best place to get the best out of me on the pitch.”

Ruan, a Wakefield Trinity academy graduate, joined Leeds from Doncaster ahead of the 2023 season. He had spells in the Championship on loan at Bradford Bulls and his previous club and ended last term on loan at Hull FC where he played four times, including his first Super League start.
The Robins’ coach Willie Peters added: “Leon has proven he wants to be a Hull KR player through his actions in training. He can play in the back-row and the middle and we see him as a player who will hopefully develop over the next two years into being a long-term Super League player.”
