Great George Street: Plans for 'apart-hotel' in listed Leeds city centre building gets green light

The new “apart-hotel” will provide five short-stay flats with kitchens and bathrooms at 37 Great George Street.
Leeds City Council gave consent for the project in part of Grade II-listed 35-41 Great George Street, near the town hall.

A planning report said no changes would be made to the fabric of the red brick building as part of the change-of-use application.
It will house two two-bed flats, two adjoined two-bedroom “duplex” flats and a single studio apartment.

Hide Ad“At ground floor level there is an existing restaurant and retail unit, and there are several restaurants, offices, flats, and retail units in the surrounding streets.”
The report said the holiday lets would be strictly marketed to business users and small groups.
Communal areas would be monitored by CCTV and the flats accessed with electronic keys.
The report said: “The operator positively discriminates against stag and hen parties.
“Any large or single-sex groups are required to place a large deposit on booking which is non-refundable in the event of either noise or behaviour issues.”
