Hundreds gather at The Light as glow sticks, LED drummers, and modern art illuminate Leeds Light Night
City centre entertainment venue The Light welcomed hundreds of visitors for an evening of live music, LED drum performances, and free giveaways as part of Leeds Light Night 2026
Hundreds of visitors descended on The Light in the city centre earlier this week as the venue brought its own vibrant showcase to this year's Leeds Light Night celebrations.
The Light Up The Light event transformed the location into an illuminated hub of activity between 6pm and 8pm, handing out 500 free glow sticks to families and festivalgoers exploring the citywide arts programme.

The evening's entertainment was headlined by a live performance from an LED drummer, whose illuminated kit and interactive set quickly became a crowd favourite.
DJ Abbie Pierce provided the soundtrack across the evening as visitors gathered throughout the central concourse.
Alongside the live entertainment, visitors also explored a new artwork installation by artist Emily Allchurch.
Positioned inside The Light, the piece takes inspiration from Atkinson Grimshaw’s iconic 1880 painting of Leeds Bridge, using a contemporary digital photographic collage that slowly transitions between the Victorian landscape and present-day Leeds.
Brian Oakley, Centre Manager at The Light, said: "It was fantastic to see so many people coming together at The Light for Leeds Light Night. We wanted to create an event that was full of energy and gave visitors something they could really get involved in, and the atmosphere throughout the evening was brilliant.
"The LED drummer was a real highlight. His performance was fantastic, and seeing him get the crowd involved and bring people together was great to watch. Alongside DJ Abbie Pierce and our free glow sticks, there was something happening throughout the evening, and we're really pleased to have been part of such a brilliant celebration for Leeds."
Emily Allchurch's Leeds Bridge installation remains on display inside The Light Leeds, located on The Headrow, Leeds, LS1 8TL. For details on future events and displays, visit the website of The Light Leeds.
