Man charged over fatal Leeds police-chase crash that killed 36-year-old woman
Police believe two other people were in the car
A 19-year-old man has been charged over the death of a woman who was hit by a car in Leeds following a police chase.
The incident happened on Beckett Street in Harehills on the morning of Thursday (October 29).
A black Vauxhall Corsa failed to stop for officers and a police pursuit was authorised. The vehicle struck a pedestrian on Beckett Street at about 9.50am and fled the scene, before it was later found abandoned on Nippet Lane.

The pedestrian, a 36-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with serious injuries and later died.
Harry Gyamsie-Perah, of Coldcotes Garth, Leeds, has now been charged over the crash.
He has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, using a motor vehicle on a road without third party insurance, failing to stop after a road accident and driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence.
Gyamsie-Perah, who police say self-defines as black African including black British, appeared at Leeds Magistrates’ Court this morning.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Leeds Crown Court on November 27.
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: “At least two people are understood to have been in the vehicle at the time of the collision and detectives from the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team are urging any occupants of the vehicle to do the right thing and come forward to assist with their enquiries.”
The Independent Office for Police Conduct are investigating the circumstances of the police pursuit, the force confirmed.
Detectives are continuing to appeal for anyone who witnessed this incident or who has any relevant dashcam footage to make contact.
