'No family should walk in the dark': Autumn charity walk to illuminate streets to support children's hospice
“No family has to walk through the dark alone”: Charity walk to unite Boston Spa
Families have been invited to light up Boston Spa this autumn as a local charity brings its Glow Together to support poorly youngsters.
Martin House Children’s Hospice is encouraging families to dress up in bright clothing to raise awareness of those in their care with life-shortening conditions.
The event takes place on Saturday, November 14 at 4.30pm, and kicks off at Stables Lane Park, which will be lit up for the occasion.

Martin House has been providing family-led specialist palliative care and support for children and young people with life-shortening conditions across West, North, and East Yorkshire since 1987.
It has two wings accommodating children and teenagers in need of care, and includes services such as specialist planned short breaks, symptom management, and emergency care.
Katy Hughes, regional fundraiser at Martin House, said: “This is a really fun, fully accessible family event, with lots of activities to enjoy on the night.
“There is also a serious message – we Glow Together to show that no family has to walk through the dark alone.”
The walk starts with a lantern parade through the park, before families follow a circular route around the town. They will stop at a series of glow points along the way, including the Martin House shop, where they will receive a special token to take to the hospice.
Families will then return to Stables Lane for sparklers, marshmallow toasting, and a surprise for the entertainment.
It costs £10 for adults and £2.50 for children to take part in the walk, with children also encouraged to raise sponsorship ahead of the event.
The Glow Together walk will not only unite the community, but also provide a platform to raise awareness about the support that the charity provides to young people.
Katy added: “Glow Together is an event where children really get excited about raising sponsorship, knowing they can do something to help the children who need the care of Martin House.”
