Leeds call centre to be turned into 120 homes after £330k deal struck with city council

A building development of 120 homes is to go ahead after a developer reached a £330,000 legal agreement with the council.

The project will see affordable homes built at the former Lloyds Banking Group call centre site on Cote Lane in Farsley.

Bank of Scotland and Breck Homes planned to deliver a mix of flats, maisonettes and family houses on brownfield land near Dawson’s Corner roundabout.
Financial agreements with the developers included more than £260,000 towards green space and transport improvements.
A council report said: “Overall, the proposed development is considered acceptable when assessed against the relevant national and local planning policies.”
Permission for the scheme was first agreed by a Leeds City Council plans panel in August this year.
It was delegated for approval to the city’s chief planning officer, subject to legal agreements.
The council said letters of objection against and for the scheme were received.
One supporter wrote: “The redevelopment would bring a vacant and underutilised brownfield site back into beneficial use.”
Another said: “The proposal would contribute positively towards housing supply, providing an affordable mix of tenures.”
Plans were revised since the same applicants sought permission for a larger 133-home development last year.
Under the latest proposals, 27 flats would be built in a single apartment block, along with 93 houses.
A section 106 legal agreement has now been signed, planning documents show. Final permission was granted in a decision notice issued on October 23.
