Leeds United transfer state of play with James Trafford update, Julian Brandt hope & attacker sale now likely

The latest on Leeds United’s transfer pursuits including Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford.

Leeds United remain in pursuit of their number one goalkeeper target and a Champions League veteran, as some outgoing business nears completion.

As the YEP reported in recent weeks, Leeds have been hopeful of getting a deal done for Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford if an exit from the Etihad could be negotiated this summer. The 23-year-old's future was always going to be decided after the World Cup and though he's currently on his FIFA-mandated three-week break following England's tournament involvement, Trafford is now said to be leaning towards an Elland Road move. David Ornstein has reported that Trafford's preference appears to be Leeds, with Newcastle no longer considering the keeper an option despite previously holding long-term interest.

A number of other goalkeepers have been mentioned in various reports this summer, including Japan international Zion Suzuki but Leeds were never in an active pursuit and have been waiting on the Trafford possibility. A deal is yet to be struck with Manchester City but the two clubs have been in talks.

Leeds are also hopeful that Julian Brandt will make a decision on his future soon. The German's father Jurgen was at Thorp Arch for talks with club officials last week and Brandt has been keeping fit at Bayer Leverkusen's training facilities in recent days as he mulls over his options.

In terms of outgoing business, Valencia are keen on bringing Largie Ramazani back to LaLiga following his loan stint last season. And Jack Harrison looks likely to sign for New England Revolution in the MLS. The Whites are expected to recoup a fee, which will be undisclosed, but getting the winger's wages off the books and earning money will be a financial boost.

Daniel Farke and his Leeds squad arrived in the US this week and have begun training at Red Bull's new state-of-the-art facility in New Jersey ahead of this weekend's game against Wrexham.
