Mike Tindall has been announced as one of the celebrities entering the Australian jungle for this years I’m A Celebrity: Get Me Out of Here.

The former England rugby player, 44, was born in Otley, West Yorkshire, and will be the first member of the extended royal family to appear on the show.

I’m A Celebrity is set to make its return back to the Australian wilderness after spending the past two series of the show being filmed at Gwrych Castle in North Wales.

Twelve celebrities have been announced to be entering the jungle including pop star Boy George, radio presenter Chris Moyles and Lionesses footballer Jill Scott.

Mike Tindall has already shared how he is preparing to enter the I’m A Celebrity Jungle, saying that he is “not worried” about eating challenges.

Who is Mike Tindall?

Mike Tindall was born in Otley, Leeds, on 18 October 1978.

The 44-year-old’s father, Phillip Tindall was the captain for the Otley Rugby Union Football Club when Mike was a child.

Mike Tindall was privately educated at the Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Wakefield, before joining the Bath rugby team when he turned 18.

What is Mike Tindall famous for?

Mike Tindall is best known for his former career as a professional rugby player for England.

When he turned 18, Mike joined the Bath rugby team in 1997 and then made his debut for the England team against Ireland in the 2000 Six Nations Championship.

After a foot injury in 2005, he moved over to Gloucester and went on to play in eleven Six Nation Championships for England.

Mike, who played as outside centre, went on to captain the England Rugby team in 2011 before announcing his retirement in 2014.

When he retired at the age of 35, Mike Tindall had won 75 caps for England and was the last of England’s 2003 World Cup winning squad to retire from the sport.

Mike Tindall now hosts the podcast ‘The Good, The Bad & The Rugby’ with fellow former rugby players James Haskell and Alex Payne.

The couple met at the Rugby World Cup in Australia in 2003, when the England rugby team won the competition.

In 2010, Buckingham Palace announced Mike and Zara’s engagement and at the time it was required by the Royal Marriages Act 1977, that The Queen gave her consent to the marriage.

Mike and Zara Tindall have three children together, Mia, eight, Lena, four, and Lucas, one, and the family lives together in Gatcombe Park in Gloucestershire.

After the death of the Queen, people were questioning why Mike Tindall was seen wearing medals to the service and procession.

He revealed on his podcast ‘The Good, The Bad & The Rugby’ that he hates wearing medals.

During the podcast Mike Tindall said: “I have not served anywhere and actually haven’t done anything to achieve those medals apart from being in the family.”

Mike Tindall currently holds an MBE for his contribution to rugby, as well as two medals for The Queen’s Diamond and Platinum jubilees.
