Everything you need to know as American music icon Bob Dylan plays his first ever show in Leeds tonight

There’s few iconic names in music who haven’t performed in Leeds before.

Gigs from The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, David Bowie, Elton John, Queen, Madonna, The Who, Oasis, Prince and Nirvana have gone down in local folklore but one giant among giants that hasn’t set foot in the city in his 60-plus years of touring is Bob Dylan.

Tonight that absurd fact is set right as Minneapolis-born Robert Zimmerman takes to the stage at the First Direct Bank Arena as part of his “Rough and Rowdy Ways” Tour, which has been ongoing since 2021.

It is also seen as continuation of his “Never Ending Tour”, which has seen him constantly performing around the world, bar the Covid period, since 1988.

And while he has visited the UK countless times over the decades, including in 1966 when he was booed for “going electric” and branded ‘Judas’ during a show in Manchester, he has never visited this side of the Pennines.

The 84-year-old has released 40 studio albums during his 68-year career and is known for practically redefining the American songbook with tracks such as ‘Blowin’ In The Wind’, ‘The Times They Are A-Changin’, ‘Like A Rolling Stone’ and ‘Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright’.

While he has never been one to pander to the crowd and play the hits, there are plenty of reasons to be excited for tonight’s show. Here’s everything you need to know:
