Betfred Championship outfit York Knights today (Thursday) confirmed they have signed Hudson on a one-year deal, after he left Tigers “by mutual consent”. In November, Castleford announced Hudson’s return for a second spell, following his release by Rhinos at the end of last season.
The 24-year-old, who was a goalkeeper with Sunderland FC before switching to rugby league, initially signed for Tigers from Whitehaven in 2022. An Achilles injury in pre-season sidelined him for the whole of 2023 and he moved to Leeds at the end of that year.

Hide AdGrandson of Leeds great John Holmes, he played in Rhinos’ reserves and once on dual-registration for Halifax Panthers, but the Headingley club announced in September he had been released from the final year of his contract, without making a first team appearance.

In a statement today, Tigers said: “After a long discussion with Kieran about his goals for the future and our ambitions for the squad, he expressed a desire to pursue his future with another club. We wish Kieran all the best for the next stage of his career.”
York confirmed his signing just hours later, with coach Mark Applegarth saying: “I’m really delighted we’ve got Kieran on board. I know he is a player Clint [Goodchild, Knights’ chairman] has been tracking for a number of years.
“I first saw Kieran when he was at Leeds. He has definitely got some impact and I’m looking forward to working with him.”
