A look at the latest injury news surrounding Leeds United and Leicester City ahead of their Premier League meeting.

Leeds United are back in action on Thursday night when they head to the East Midlands. The Whites take on Leicester City away from home in a midweek clash as they look to bounce back from a tough-to-take defeat to Arsenal over the weekend.

Leeds put on a brave display but couldn’t pick up a point, losing -1-0 after missing a penalty and seeing a goal disallowed. Playing well and not taking chances have become an unwanted trend for Jesse Marsch’s men, who are now beginning to slide down the table.

However, they are not in the sort of trouble Thursday’s rivals Leicester find themselves in, with some Foxes fans calling for manager Brendan Rodgers to be sacked following a hugely disappointing start to the season, leaving the usually impressive Leicester bottom. Ahead of the clash, Leeds boss Marsch has provided an update on his team’s fitness, revealing that Pascal Struijk will be out for this one.

“Adam (Forshaw) is coming back from injury but feeling good,” he said. “Stuart (Dallas) is still injured and Archie Gray. And then Pascal Struijk picked up a little bit of an injury and won’t be available for tomorrow. But we are hopeful that by Sunday he will be available.”

Junior Firpo recently returned from injury, though, and he will replace Struijk at the back. “Junior will start and he will be ready,” Marsch added. “I think he’s been patiently waiting and also trying to make sure that he’s sharp, fit and strong so that when he gets called upon, he’s ready to go. So I’m excited for him to have his opportunity now and to show that he’s ready.

“And then yes, Willy (Gnonto) will be with us and Joffy (Joe Gelhardt) and Sam (Greenwood) and some of the guys that we have talked about that have done a little bit of double duty will be with us. We knew that we had a three game week so we have use some of those 21s matches to keep them fit and strong and sharp and now we’re going to need them in this week to be ready for us.”

As for Leicester, key defenders Jonny Evans and Caglas Soyuncu are out, with Rodgers confirming: “Jonny won’t make the game. We’ll see how he is for the weekend. Cags, he’s got an issue with his knee. We have to assess that. He’s had it since he came back from international duty.

“He has had a scan done on that, so we have to wait for the result. He hasn’t been quite where he wants to be in terms of his fitness, and we think he’ll miss the game as well. The others have come through okay.”

Elsewhere, Leicester are without Wilfred Ndidi (hamstring), Ryan Bertrand (knee) and Ricardo Pereira (Achilles), while James Maddison is suspended after picking up one too many yellow cards.
