Club statement on Leeds United clash at Sunderland as Storm Boelo strikes

Storm Boelo is battering the country as Leeds United prepare to take on Sunderland.

Leeds United’s Premier League clash at Sunderland is currently going ahead as planned despite Storm Boelo battering the country, the Black Cats releasing a statement with advice to supporters.

Daniel Farke’s Whites are set to face the Black Cats at the Stadium of Light in a 4.30pm kick-off on Sunday afternoon but the country is currently being battered by very high winds from Storm Boelo.

The match, though, is currently going ahead as planned, Sunderland advising fans to allow extra time for their journey, arrive early and also to keep an eye on official club channels for any further updates.

A statement from Sunderland released just after noon on Sunday read: “Despite the ongoing storm and adverse weather conditions, the Premier League fixture between Sunderland AFC and Leeds United at the Stadium of Light this afternoon is currently scheduled to go ahead as planned.

“Supporters are encouraged to allow extra time for their journey, arrive early where possible, and take extra care when travelling to the stadium. Supporters are advised to keep an eye on official Club channels for any further updates ahead of the fixture.”
