Leeds United defeated A-League side Brisbane Roar at the Cbus Super Stadium on Thursday courtesy of first-half goals from Daniel James and Joe Gelhardt.
The Australian side pegged Leeds back but were unable to find a leveller as United’s pre-season tour Down Under got off to a winning start.
Leeds wore their new home shirt for the first time as Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen, Darko Gyabi, Luis Sinisterra and Tyler Adams all made their unofficial debuts for the club.
Here are Graham Smyth’s full-time player ratings for the Whites.
7. Marc Roca - 7
On the ball he was excellent. Showed a lovely ability to switch play. Off the ball was a little late to a couple of challenges which gave away free-kicks or let the Roar through into space. (Photo by George Wood/Getty Images) Photo: George Wood
8. Adam Forshaw - 8
Pinged some lovely balls around, dropped in to pull strings. He and Roca dovetailed nicely. Looked comfortable, claimed an assist, played a part in the second too (Photo by George Wood/Getty Images) Photo: George Wood
9. Daniel James - 8
A goal and an assist to show for his half an hour of work. Got motoring down the right, found space, made himself an option. Finished well, produced a fine ball for Gelhardt's goal. (Photo by Bradley Kanaris/Getty Images) Photo: Bradley Kanaris
10. Brenden Aaronson - 7
Some tidy footwork, lots of tenacity and work-rate. Added a surprising amount of physicality and was sensible and efficient in possession (Photo by Albert Perez/Getty Images) Photo: Albert Perez
11. Rodrigo - 7
Saw lots of the ball, did some good stuff, showed quick feet and intelligence. Not everything came off, a couple of giveaways in risky areas. (Photo by Albert Perez/Getty Images) Photo: Albert Perez
12. Joe Gelhardt - 8
Lively, physical and when his chance came, clinical. Took the goal so well. Came close with a curling effort later on. Worked hard throughout. (Photo by George Wood/Getty Images) Photo: George Wood
