A round up of the latest Leeds United news as the summer transfer window opens for business

The summer transfer window is open and for Leeds United it could be an interesting few months. Leeds know that player sales could be a possibility after missing out on promotion to the Premier League and Crysencio Summerville is one of those attracting early interest.

However, the club will also be looking to add to Daniel Farke's squad as they push to build a squad capable of winning promotion at the second time of asking. With that in mind, the Yorkshire Evening Post rounds up some of the Leeds United news out there.

Mills' Rutter warning

Danny Mills has warned that Leeds' efforts to make financial ends meet this summer could lead to the sale of Georginio Rutter. The Frenchman was one of the Whites’ most creative last season as he bounced back from his disastrous first season with the club to become a crowd favourite.

Rutter scored eight goals in all competitions last time around, but he also racked up an incredible 18 assists, as he combined with the likes of Summerville, Dan James and Joel Piroe. As such, it seems safe to assume that clubs will be aware of the 22-year-old and Mills has even suggested he could leave the club.

“I think Leeds were expecting to go up," Mills told Bet Victor. "So they're now going to have to balance the books again and make sure that's right. Similar to a lot of clubs, you know, like with Norwich and Josh Sargent.

“They might have to sell a couple of big players to balance the books to be able to keep some of the stars that they've got, the likes of Summerville and Gnonto, to keep hold of them, somebody might have to go.

“We've got this constantly, especially in the EFL, slightly in the Premier League as well. You're constantly looking at how do we balance the books? How do we deal with financial fair play and all those restrictions?

“It wouldn't surprise me if Rutter was moved on again to keep hold of what they've got and even strengthen with two or three more players.”

Summerville's 'domino effect'

Crysencio Summerville has been linked to a host of Premier League clubs already with Brighton being the latest to register their interest, according to Fabrizio Romano. However, Ben Jacobs believes more clubs could emerge as Summerville suitors once Michael Olise's situation has been cleared up.

Olise is said to be on the radars of Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea this summer and it is claimed that whoever misses out on the Crystal Palace man could switch their attentions to Summerville. The Dutchman has already been linked with Liverpool, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Newcastle United as well as a host of clubs abroad.
