New headteacher Antoni Biedka has written an open letter to readers and parents on what he will bring to Manston St James CofE Primary Academy – for parents and the whole of the community. Register now to meet him at open mornings on October 22 and November 5.

When I first visited Manston St James CofE Primary Academy, its vision of being ‘Rooted and Grounded in Love’ really shone out to me. It gave me an instant connection with the school, together with the happy children and staff I met while touring the classrooms.

With 18 years of experience in education I understand the importance of having close links with not only the parents we serve, but the local community. Manston St James is a little oasis for the children to develop spiritually, emotionally, physically and academically. I am looking forward to fostering a sense of pride of the school with our school vision – Rooted and Grounded in Love- at the heart of everything we do.

There are two open mornings in October and November for 2025 admissions, we look forward to welcoming new parents to our school family to showcase all the wonderful things we do.

Strengthening community support together

Working together, we can create a really special hub with the school at the centre of the local community.

We have really strong links with our school church and Revd. This is nurtured through regular visits to St James the Great parish church and supporting joint community events. We are already working on exciting plans for a Christmas fair and more combined events together.

Manston St James CofE Primary Academy has strong links with its Parents, Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA), which has helped to enhance the playground and library as well as develop our nature area to support outdoor learning. We are extremely grateful for all the amazing events they put on, such as our first ‘Colour Run’ at the last Summer fair.

Widening opportunities for holistic education

We are an Eco School and have a Gold Award for games. Underpinning our school vision we adopt a holistic approach to education, which includes humanities, sports and the arts. We provide many opportunities for children to experience extra-curricular activities so that they can develop their talents and showcase their individual skills.

Providing real experiences, is and will always be an essential part of the children’s education at Manston St James, it helps children experience the wider world and brings learning to life. Making learning real is important, which is why school trips and curriculum enhancements have a vital role to play in our education.

I want to provide stability for parents and am committed to make the most of the school’s huge potential, and continue to develop a well-rounded education for the whole child’s development.

I believe that our children are courageous advocates for a bright, sustainable future – and want to be part of that change.

Parents play a key role in a child’s development, and we will welcome them to be part of the process, with tea and coffee mornings to chat about our vision and expectations of the school. We want to collaborate and provide our children with the opportunities they need to reach aspirational, targets and flourish in their learning.

By being ‘Rooted and Grounded in Love’, our children will leave Manston St James CE Primary Academy rounded, confident individuals who strive to be the best that they can be and achieve their dreams.
