Nicola Adams has teamed up with online food company Deliveroo and food bank charity The Trussell Trust to help households that are facing hunger this winter.

The Leeds-born former boxer, 40, has joined the “Collecteroo task force” amid a cost of living crisis, with the hopes of encouraging people to donate unopened food items.

With enegry bills and food prices skyrocketing, Deliveroo and The Trussell Trust have launched the food collection service as part of their Full Life campaign.

In the festive advert for Collecteroo, Nicola can be seen arriving at a house in a blue Collecteroo van. She then collects a food parcel from the resident, containing the likes of pasta and porridge.

The mum-of-one says: “Seven in ten UK households have unopened food items that they would happily donate to people facing hunger. Deliveroo and the Trussell Trust are launching a food collection service as part of their Full Life campaign.

“Collecting items from homes and delivering them straight to your local food bank. All you have to do is sign up, select a slot and we’ll Collecteroo it.”

In an Instagram post, Deliveroo said they were “proud to have Olympic boxing champion and Strictly star” Nicola join the task force and help with the first pick ups.

The online food company explained the campaign, writing: “Collecteroo is our food collection service to encourage people who can to donate unopened food items from their cupboards to food banks and help households facing hunger.”

In the advert, Nicola also includes other ways to help “people locked in poverty” including rounding up your Deliveroo order to the nearest pound.
