M1 crash: Crash near Leeds shuts motorway as traffic temporarily stopped
and on Freeview 262 or Freely 565
The M1 was closed this morning between J42 (M62) and J44 (Rothwell) after a crash.
All lanes have now reopened but residual delays remain up to Junction 39 (A636) and on surrounding roads.

A statement from National Highways said: “All lanes have now reopened on the #M1 northbound between J42 (#M62) and J44 (#Rothwell). Be aware delays remain in the area, as mentioned in aforementioned Tweet. Please allow extra time for your journey if travelling in the area.”

West Yorkshire Police release statement about the crash
Police have issued the following statement regarding the crash on the M1 this morning.
“Police were called to the M1 Northbound at junction 42 at 07.51 this morning to a report of a collision involving a HGV and several cars.
The incident caused a closure of the carriageway while emergency services checked drivers and dealt with the incident.
The northbound carriageway was re-opened at 8.46am.”
Residual delays back to J39
All lanes have now reopened following a crash on the M1 this morning.
Residual delays remain back to Junction 39 (A636) and on surrounding roads.
Extended delays on M62
National Highways Yorkshire has stated that there is also congestion on the M62 eastbound on approach from J28.
They have advised that people plan ahead of their journey to avoid delays.
