New traffic signals to go live at Lawnswood roundabout as part of revamp
The signals will be carefully monitored, tested and fine-tuned
New traffic signals are set to go live at a crucial roundabout in Leeds.
The new traffic signals at Lawnswood roundabout will begin operating this week, marking another important step in the improvement works.
Once operational, the signals will be carefully monitored, tested and fine-tuned to help optimise traffic flow around the junction.

A Facebook post from the Leeds City Council-run team at Connecting Leeds confirmed that the timings of these lights will be adjusted based on traffic patterns and feedback.
“Drivers may notice adjustments to the signal timings as this work continues,” the post said.
“This is part of the normal testing process to make sure the new system is working as effectively as possible.”
The final revised surfacing works at Lawnswood roundabout were completed in September after being rescheduled due to a combination of wet weather conditions and issues affecting the supply of materials.
Major upgrade works have been underway at Lawnswood since August 2025, and once completed, it is hoped that by improving crossings, reducing vehicle speeds, and introducing cycle lanes, the revamp will turn the roundabout into a place where everyone can travel easily and safely.
Landscaping works will continue throughout the autumn, with tree planting planned for November.
