Leeds Council apologises to residents as rescheduled Lawnswood roundabout surfacing dates confirmed

The original works were unable to move ahead as scheduled

Leeds City Council has apologised to residents after confirming the rescheduled surfacing dates at Lawnswood roundabout.

The revised date for the surfacing works at Lawnswood roundabout will now take place overnight from 7pm on Monday (September 21) to 6am on Tuesday morning.

Originally due to be completed over the weekend of September 5-6, they were unable to move ahead as scheduled due to a combination of wet weather conditions and issues affecting the supply of materials.

“We would like to apologise to residents, businesses and road users for the additional delay to the completion of the Lawnswood roundabout improvement scheme and thank everyone for their continued patience,” the council-run team at Connecting Leeds said.

“This week work has continued with surfacing footways and cycleways, this will continue next week along with line marking under lane closures.”

Landscaping works will continue throughout the autumn, with tree planting planned for November.

Once completed, it is hoped that by improving crossings, reducing vehicle speeds, and introducing cycle lanes, the revamp will turn the roundabout into a place where everyone can travel easily and safely.
