McDonald’s refurb approved with restaurant set for bigger kitchen and a new entrance

The plans have been given the green light

A Pontefract McDonald’s is set for a makeover including a bigger kitchen and a new entrance for food deliveries.

Wakefield Council has given the go-ahead for changes at the restaurant on Park Road Retail Park.

Plans will mean a small extension added to the side of the building to create extra space for the restaurant’s kitchen.

A new glazed door will also be installed, replacing an existing window and creating a separate access and waiting area for delivery orders.

Other changes include new aluminium cladding at the south-western corner of the restaurant, along with the window and door frames being resprayed in grey.

Facing brick will be used on the new extension to match the existing building.

A new 1.1m high fence is also planned along the western boundary of the site.

Council officers said the changes would have little impact on the surrounding area and would not affect neighbouring homes.

And the new openings facing away from residential properties.

No changes are planned to the restaurant's parking or access arrangements, and officers said the proposals would not intensify the existing use of the site.
