Residents to have their say on new 250 homes plans for Leeds town

New housing plans to be questioned by Otley residents

Residents are being urged to attend two upcoming public meetings in regards to plans for a new development east of Otley.

The consultation, which will take place at Otley Common on Friday, November 6 from 3pm-7pm, and Tuesday, November 10 from 2pm-6pm, will allow members of the public to ask questions to the developers.

If approved, the construction of 250 new homes to the east of the town will comprise the first phase of development, coupled with new public spaces and significant landscaping works.

Persimmon Homes, the development lead, will be hosting the event alongside its consultant team to answer any local concerns regarding the application before submission to Leeds City Council.

In addition, a new road would be built by the local authority to ease congestion in Otley Town centre.

The latter stages of the development feature plans for a new primary school, a further 330 homes, and land reserved for employment and business use.

35 per cent of the planned homes would be sold at a discounted rate or transferred to a housing provider.

“It is important that the development reflects the wishes of local people so we would encourage everyone to go along and take part,” read a post published on Facebook by Otley’s Councillors on Leeds City Council.
