Police have been called to the Leeds Markets car park for the second time in 24 hours over concerns for a woman's safety.

Concerns were raised for the welfare of a woman shortly before midday on Friday and officers found her at the multi-storey NCP car park on New York Street.

A specialist negotiator was sent to the scene and police talked to the woman for more than two hours.

She was brought to safety at about 2.30pm.

It is the second time that police have been called to the car park in two days, after concerns for a woman's safety were raised on Thursday at 4pm.

York Street was closed to traffic and pedestrians as officers talked to the woman and brought her to safety, causing delays in the city centre.
