Leeds furniture shop to be transformed into new hot food takeaway
New jobs will be created
A former furniture shop in Leeds can be converted into a hot food takeaway after plans were agreed with the council.
Planners at Leeds City Council approved an application for a change of use of the premises at Beeston Hill.
A new shopfront and extraction unit were proposed as part of the planning application for the site at Hillside Buildings.

Planning documents said jobs would be created at the new food outlet, set to be open from 11am-11pm daily.
A council report said: “The application premises was most recently occupied as a furniture store and provides approximately 41 square metres of floorspace.
“The submitted plans show a customer waiting and serving area to the front of the premises, with a kitchen and food preparation area located to the rear.
“The proposed opening hours are stated to be 11am to 11pm daily.
“The application form advises that the business would employ approximately four full-time and six part-time members of staff.”
A design report by the applicant said the extraction flue was designed to have a minimal visual impact on the surrounding area.
The opening of the takeaway was not expected to cause parking problems in the area.
The report said: “Given the nature of the proposed use as predominantly a takeaway operation rather than a sit-in restaurant, the development is not anticipated to generate a significant demand for long-stay parking.
“The site benefits from an accessible location at the junction of Beeston Road and Hill Street, served by existing on-street parking and within walking distance of surrounding residential areas, and it is not considered that parking provision raises any concern in this location.”
