The Mad Men of advertising might say happiness is freedom from fear but residents in cities, towns and villages across Yorkshire point to a sense of belonging as the most important contributor towards the ultimate feel good factor. In addition having a strong sense of community and polite and friendly people also ranks high. Rightmove’s Happy at Home study, now in its 11th year, asked over 21,000 people how they feel about where they live. 13. Doncaster
Doncaster is famous for horse racing. It boasts one of the oldest racecourses in the world and hosts two famous horse races - The Doncaster Cup and the St Leger Stakes. It is rated the 12th happiest place in Yorkshire and 188 in the national rankings. Photo: Dean Atkins
14. Bradford
Bradfordians have plenty to look forward to after being awarded 'City of Culture 2025' status. Bradford is the world's first UNESCO City of Film, having long been home to the National Science and Media Museum, the country's largest visitor attraction dedicated to photography, broadcast media and the internet. 15. Wakefield
