It has been closed since May 9 to allow work to be completed on an upgrade of the playground. New play equipment including new swings, a new roundabout and climbing tower has been installed and an inspection ahead of the planned reopening has been scheduled for today (October 20).

Councillor Trish Smith of the Pudsey ward has confirmed she has had a tour of the new playground and described the whole park as “looking absolutely wonderful”.

In a Facebook post, Cllr Smith said: “After a very busy morning of house visits and delivery of an important letter to residents, I had a tour of the new playground. The whole park was looking absolutely wonderful with an army of LCC [Leeds City Council] Parks Team beavering away to get it ready for winter.

"The playground was getting the finishing touches ready for the inspection tomorrow morning - I’m hopeful we’ll have children playing in there this time tomorrow - fantastic news!”

Pictures taken by Cllr Smith show off a range of new play equipment and a colourful design. The improvements have been made possible by Section 106 funding, which comes from developers who have built properties in the area. Pudsey residents had complained about the state of the park, prompting councillors to share plans for a transformation. With the inspection taking place today, the playground now appears close to being open for children to play in for the first time in months.
