Peter Kay Live Leeds: Residents furious as tickets for First Direct Arena show on resale for up to £1k

The comedian is bring his ‘Better Late Than Never’ tour to Leeds First Direct Arena on January 20 and again on May 19. Tickets officially go on sale tomorrow (Saturday), but some people have been able to get early access with O2 priority.

And tickets have already started to appear on ViaGogo – a ticket resale site – for as much as a grand each. O2 priority said demand was the highest seen for more than 15 years, for any event. Here’s what Yorkshire Evening Post readers had to say.

Tina Corke Waite: “Disgusting they should go on sale the same day for everyone! If you are not the named person on the tickets then you should not be allowed to enter!”

Edith Davison: “How can they do that. He has already said he wanted to give people a bit of cheer so kept them at a reasonable price. Surely it can be stopped he should be able to stop it.”

Jason Haigh: “It was inevitable surely nobody is naive to believe it wouldn’t.” Laura Davis: “Simple answer, don't buy the resale ones, let them be stuck with eight seats.”

Rita Thomas: “Disgusting people, buying them just to sell on at extortionate prices while preventing genuine fans from getting them. Hopefully no-one will buy them.”

Samantha Forrest: “Shouldn’t be allowed on resale site when listening to Peter Kay on Friday morning radio , the price has deliberately set low so everyone has a chance to go.”

Grannie Zena: “What a joke! He was selling his tickets at a price HE wanted for a reason. Any seller selling them for more should be made to pay the difference themselves. Annoying that’s the people who had their tickets refunded when he cancelled, weren’t given first refusal!”

Hayley Elizabeth Sarah Logan: “People shouldn't buy them off resale sites for that price would prevent ppl from selling them on. I'm amazed how they managed to get them to sell in first place. Took me three hours this morning to get some and had to get them for Manchester as no Leeds tickets available.”
