Having listened to Health Secretary Matt Hancock in the House of Commons, and listening to the news, it is clear Hancock is unfit for purpose but why can’t Boris Johnson see that, or does he just close his eyes to incompetence around him?

From the start of the pandemic the country floundered at the hands of Hancock by not having enough testing equipment, PPE for medical/care staff, etc, and over seven months later the country is now facing a second wave of infections and still without enough testing equipment.

It is easy for him to blame anyone and everyone but himself.

Experts have been saying for months that there could be a second spike so why not stockpile testing equipment and, if the pile reduces because of usage then “top up the pile”. All that said, no lessons have been learned by Hancock or his cabinet colleagues including the PM, what a shambolic lot they are.

Commendable it might be to many when considering the economy, education of our young and socialising but in the process it will undoubtedly cause more deaths and suffering in the process.

Is that the price which has to be paid?

Our government is shooting itself in the foot at every given opportunity with ridiculous statements, announcements and reversals of ill-thought through decisions.

It simply isn’t good enough and Hancock’s latest announcement regarding the shortage of testing equipment is probably the worst of all.

Seven months and nothing learned about equipment availability is inexcusable.
