Man charged with murder after victim run over by car in Headingley dies

A suspect has been charged with murder after a man who was run over by a car in Leeds died.

Jason Llanwarne, aged 34, was taken to hospital after the incident, which took place in North Lane at about 10.20pm on Monday, September 14.

Witnesses saw a fight between a number of men before a car was driven into Mr Llanwarne.

He was in a critical condition in hospital but police have confirmed that he died on Monday night.

Mohammed Fike Butt, aged 31, of Wakefield Road, Oulton, has been charged with the murder of Mr Llanwarne, aged 34.

Butt is also charged with the attempted murder of two other men, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

He is due to appear at Leeds Magistrates Court this morning.

Two other men, who were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, have been released without charge.

Detectives from West Yorkshire Police Homicide and Major Enquiry Team are still keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, particularly those with any relevant phone or dashcam footage, or anyone who has any information that could assist the investigation.
