A West Yorkshire Police officer has been charged with rape after an incident earlier this year.

PC Jo Lavender, aged 42, has been charged with one count of rape relating to an off-duty offence against a woman in January.

The officer, who is based in Leeds District, is due to appear at Bradford Magistrates Court on Friday, October 4.

Mr Lavender has been suspended from duty since the start of the investigation by West Yorkshire Police’s Professional Standards Directorate.
