Pudsey paedophile spent years collecting sick abuse images, court told

He had led “blameless” life until that point

A pervert who admitted having a sexual interest in children has avoided custody, despite having hundreds of sickening images stored.

Pensioner Geoffrey Clayton was caught with more than 500 images and videos, some of which showed children being raped.

The victims in the images were estimated to be aged between one and 16. He had been seeking out the vile footage since 2017 and was arrested in 2024, Leeds Crown Court heard.

The 68-year-old, of Moravia Bank, Pudsey, admitted three counts of possessing indecent images in Category A, B and C. Category A depict the most serious abuse.

He had 113 in Category A, 81 in B and 393 in C.

Mitigating, Rhianydd Clement said had no previous convictions and that he had accepted his attraction, having been “open and honest” with police.

Judge Geoffrey Marson KC said it was “rare” for paedophiles to admit their interests from the outset.

He told Clayton: “These children are being brutalised and subject to defilement and degradation.

“These children suffer. Downloading these images in a way contributes to that situation.

“Although it was over a long period of time, you have no previous convictions.

“You accept a sexual interest in children, it’s very unusual and it’s to your credit.”

He gave Clayton a 10-month sentence, suspended for two years, with 20 rehabilitation days with probation and a three-month residence requirement.

He put him on the sex offender register for 10 years and gave him a 10-year sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) to curb his internet use.
