Supermarket boss in running for prestigious award
Abu Bakr Supermarkets managing director Hamza Hussain has been named a finalist in the Next Gen Award category at the prestigious Asian Trader Awards.

The managing director of the Batley-based supermarket group has been shortlisted among the next generation of talent shaping the UK convenience retail industry, following his recent success in the 30 Under 30 awards.
The Asian Trader Awards are a major event in the UK convenience retail calendar, bringing together retailers, suppliers and industry leaders to celebrate achievement and innovation across the sector.
The winner of the Next Gen Award will be announced on November 4 at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge in London, where industry figures will gather for the annual awards ceremony.
For Hamza, the latest shortlist comes at an important point in his career, following his recognition in the 30 Under 30 awards, which celebrate young talent making an impact across the industry.
He said: “Being named a finalist for the Next Gen Award is a real honour, especially after the recent 30 Under 30 recognition. I see this as a reflection of the hard work that goes on behind the scenes every day at Abu Bakr Supermarkets.
“Our business has always been built around family values, our customers and the communities we serve. I'm fortunate to work alongside a brilliant team, and any success we achieve is down to the people who continue to support and drive the business forward.
“We're ambitious about the future and want to keep building something that our family, our colleagues and our local communities can be proud of. It's fantastic to have that journey recognised by the industry.”
Abu Bakr Supermarkets has established a presence across West Yorkshire, serving customers with a broad selection of groceries, fresh produce, halal meat and world foods.
