A number of criminals have been punished for their crimes at Leeds Crown Court this week including a man who caused a woman to suffer a fracture in the neck after T-boning her car, two drug dealers who were busted when immigration services found a bag, and a man who received a football ban for an offensive chant at Elland Road.
Their sentenced range from fines to several years in jail, with two men facing more than six years behind bars.
Here are ten people who faced justice at Leeds Crown Court this week:

7. Mohammed Zubayer
Zubayer, 23, was a passenger in a car on October 9 at around 5pm which was pulled over by police. They found bags of cannabis worth around £30 on Zubayer. They searched his home and found an additional £300 worth of the drug, along with dealer bags and scales. On his phone they found messages offering to sell the drugs dated from April up to October. Zubayer, who has no previous convictions, admitted being concerned in the supply of cannabis. Mitigating, Amy Walker said he was “like many others” that selling the drug stemmed from his own cannabis habit. He was given a nine-month jail sentence, suspended for two years, 15 rehabilitation days and 150 hours of unpaid work. | National World Photo: National World

8. Darian Anderson-Browne
Darian Anderson-Browne, who has been caught behind the wheel before having never passed his test, failed to adhere to a give-way sign in the Woodhouse Moor area of Leeds before rolling his VW Polo. He had a male passenger in the front, and a female in the back. They had been to the pub and were heading home at around midnight on July 29 last year, prosecutor Andrea Parnham told Leeds Crown Court. They had travelled along St Mark’s Road but Anderson-Browne failed to negotiate the junction with Raglan Road. Although not thought to be travelling at excessive speed, the 30-year-old struck the embankment opposite, causing the car to become airborne before it spun 180-degrees and rolled onto its side, coming to a stop around 20 metres from the road. Anderson-Browne and the male passenger dragged the female passenger from the stricken car, but then left the scene before the emergency services arrived. She was found to have a fracture to her neck. He admitted causing serious injury through driving while banned. The court heard that Anderson-Browne, of Oatland Green, Sheepscar, has four previous convictions for 18 offences, including being banned in 2015 for dangerous driving. He was ordered to take an extended re-test to obtain a licence, but has never sat the test. He was jailed in July this year for four years for dealing crack cocaine and heroin. The crash predates his dealing offences and was on bail when he was caught with the drugs. He was jailed for 12 months, which will be consecutive to his existing four-year term. He was also banned from driving for 58 months. Photo: WYP / Google Maps

9. Gareth Mellor
A former assistant headteacher at a Wakefield high school has avoided jail after pleading guilty to accessing thousands of indecent child images. Gareth Mellor was given a suspended sentence and ordered to go on a sex offender treatment programme over his conduct. Mellor, 43, was a senior member of staff in charge of safeguarding at Kettlethorpe High School during the seven years he committed the offences. None of the offences relate to any children at the council-maintained school. The offending took place between 2014 to 2021. Photo: subm
