Much-loved Turkish restaurant reopens in Leeds after former home demolished

The much-loved restaurant is back

A popular Turkish restaurant has reopened in Leeds after finding a new home following the demolition of its former premises.

Tahin is now open at 10 Kirkgate, bringing its Middle Eastern-inspired menu back to the city centre.

The family-run restaurant was previously based inside The Core shopping centre, which closed before being demolished.

Plans for its return emerged last month, when signs appeared outside a new unit on Kirkgate, next to Kitty Cafe.

The restaurant has now opened its doors, serving a menu featuring shawarma, speciality flatbreads, hummus, pide and lahmacun.

Options include chicken and lamb shawarma wraps, alongside a falafel wrap for those looking for a meat-free option.

There are also a range of speciality flatbreads, including za'atar bread, as well as cheese pide and classic lahmacun – a traditional Turkish flatbread topped with minced meat.

Other dishes include hummus and hummus with lamb shawarma, with a selection of extras, sauces and drinks also available.

Tahin previously built up a following in Leeds, with customers praising its authentic Middle Eastern food, Turkish tea and friendly service.

The restaurant is now taking orders through its website, with collection available from its new Kirkgate premises.

Its listed opening hours are 10am to 10pm, seven days a week.
