The York Road based dog rehoming centre continues to receive record numbers of requests from members of the public needing to relinquish their beloved pets due to the cost of living crisis, as well as working closely with local dog wardens to help rehome an increasing number of stray and abandoned dogs in the area. Here we get to go behind the scenes, meet some of the wonderful pooches who are looking for their forever homes and celebrate the many successful adoptions throughout January. For more information on the dogs currently looking for their forever homes, please visit www.dogstrust.org.uk or telephone the Dogs Trust call centre on 0303 0030000. 7. Billy
Billy is a handsome 11-year-old Patterdale Terrier and to him, age really is just a number! He’s absolutely full of life and loves his outdoors adventures. We joined him on a fun agility session where he showed off his amazing hoop jumping skills! Whoever adopts this bubbly lad is guaranteed a fun time for sure! Photo: Dogs Trust Leeds
8. Buddy
Buddy is very loving 11 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier. He is a fun and affectionate boy who is friendly with everyone he meets. He's great with other dogs out and about and would love to have walking buddies, but he’s not looking to share his home. In classic Staffy style, he loves lots of fuss and attention and isn’t one to share the spotlight! He enjoys a peaceful home so he'll settle best in a less noisy location. Don't be fooled by his 11 years! He is full of life and will be a wonderful, loyal and loving family pet. Photo: Dogs Trust Leeds
9. Blossom
Blossom is a one year old Crossbreed. We caught her having a sneaky break during one of her training session! She certainly isn’t for the feint hearted as she is a big strong lass,
but in experienced hands she will really thrive as she’s doing so well with the training plan her handlers have been working on with her. Photo: Dogs Trust Leeds
10. Meg and Mollie
Another happy goodbye this month was to the lovely pair of Spaniel Crossbreeds Meg and Mollie. They arrived a few months ago and due to living such a sheltered life they found the world a very overwhelming place. The training team took their time and slowly built their confidence and in time saw two playful and very affectionate girls start to
come out of their shells. Their new family have been amazing by visiting them lots of times at the centre and its wonderful news that they have now packed their bag and moved on together to their new life. Photo: Dogs Trust Leeds
11. Luna
Lovely Luna is an adorable seven year old Lurcher who has stolen everyone's heart due to her sweet nature. She loves being around her friends and enjoys making doggy walking buddies too. She's very playful and loves her toys. Her love of food means that she'd be great to do more fun training with too. If you’re looking for a sweet and affectionate girl then Luna could be your perfect match Photo: Dogs Trust Leeds
12. Apollo
The most wonderful news this month is that long term lodger Apollo has finally found his forever home after nearly a year of waiting! Apollo, a one year old St Bernard Cross, arrived in March 2022 after being found as a stray. He was very thin and sadly suffering with a degenerative condition with his hips. His ordeal left him very anxious,
and the training team needed to work very hard to gain his confidence and trust, whilst the vet team worked to make him more comfortable. Photo: Dogs Trust Leeds
