13. Rumba
Rumba is an ex-racing greyhound who at five-years-old has hung up his racing shoes and is looking for his next adventure. He has turned his paws to training and learning new tracks and is quite the training whizz. Rumba loves his food and is eager to please if there is a tasty reward coming his way. He does have a strong chase instinct but happily wears his muzzle when out and about. He's a real joy to walk and is friendly with similar looking dogs to himself, especially other sighthounds. Rumba isn't a cuddler and prefers more active interactions like training or play time, but he does show a more affectionate side sometimes. He needs a home with people who have the same passion for training as he does. Although there was an incident in a previous home when he was lying on a sofa, the Dogs Trust training team has worked hard to develop a number of verbal and visual cues which Rumba responds brilliantly to, to avoid him being in a similar situation again. He needs an adult-only home with a family who have the
Spud is a great little lad who needs very understanding and patient owners who will give him the chance to prove himself. He is six years old and once he has firmed a bond with you he'll show you his bubbly and affectionate personality. Sadly Spud lacks in confidence and can get very stressed in unfamiliar situations. Due to his worries he cannot live with children and would prefer to be the only pet. Spud will need to be exercised in quiet areas without many other dogs present and away from busy roads. He'll need a secure garden so he has somewhere to play off lead. There must be no visitors during his settling in period and very few thereafter. Spud really struggles being left alone and forms a very strong attachment to one person. He will need somebody around all of the time for the long term.
Wilbur is a wonderful boy with loads of potential. He's two years old and still has a lot to learn, but he's getting there. Unfortunately, he is a real worrier and doesn't like sudden noises or busy environments. He has a tendency to chase traffic and other small animals so he'll need to live in quite a rural area where he has immediate access to peaceful walks directly from his home. He prefers his own company and is not one for much fuss. He really enjoys playing with his toys and he's slowly learning how to include people in his games. Tug seems to be his current favourite!
