These rescue dogs in Leeds are in desperate need of a permanent, loving home. Can you help them?
Dogs Trust in Leeds has several dogs and puppies and these are the ones that currently need rehoming (all photos from Dogs Trust Leeds):
13. Pippa
Five-year-old Pippa is a very friendly girl who greets everyone with a waggy tail. She would suit a family with older children 16 and over who are around most of the time as she isn't used to being left for long. Pippa will need a large enclosed garden with good sized fencing so she can exercise off lead and burn off some energy. She can be strong to walk out and about and may lunge out at passing dogs so a less doggy populated area would suit her best for walks. Pippa's kidneys are slightly smaller than they should be so she needs to be fed a specific renal diet. She loves her soft toys and will need to be the only pet so she can lap up all the attention for herself.
Stuart is big strong lad who is looking for a very special home. He's only one and unfortunately hasn't had much training in his life. His training MUST be continued in his home. His owners will need plenty of previous experience of large breed dogs and be prepared to put in a lot of effort at the start with things like lead training, confidence building and gradual dog socialisation as he does tend to bark when he sees them. He is full of potential so your hard work will be rewarded with a fun, playful and loyal companion. He loves his food so he really is a trainers dream! He is housetrained but he will only toilet on grass, so his home MUST have a fully secure garden with high fence and lawn. Due to his size and training needs he must live in an adult only environment as the only dog with no visitors during his settling in period, and very few after then as he is nervous around new people. He cannot be left at all at the moment.
Ted enjoys the quiet life which is a good job as he is very hard of hearing. He is an older gent at 14 years old and just wants a nice garden to potter in and sit and enjoy the sunshine. Ted keeps himself to himself and but does enjoy a bit of gentle fussing or a good brush. He has lived outside for most of his life so may need some help in the house training department. His new owners should expect him to mark in the house at least initially. Ted is not one for miles of exercise but could manage a 15 minute walk a day so would suit a less active household. He is not a fan of dogs getting too close to him but doesn't look for trouble and as long as he is given some space he should be easy enough to manage. Ted has had problems with his ears which are being treated. They are looking much better but could cause him problems again. His new owners need to be aware of this. Ted is not bothered about spending time on his own for a few hours so would suit part time workers.
Tiny and Bobby have spent many years together and would like to stay together during their next chapter. Tiny, 11, is the bigger of the pair, has the biggest voice and can be reactive to other dogs nearby. Bobby, 10, is a little more shy and prefers the hand off approach at least until he has gained your trust. Both dogs will need a quieter home without young children (sensible 16 and overs should be fine). They won't cope with lots of visitors as they enjoy the peace and quite too much. Both dogs like their own space and are not ones for too much fussing. They are a little worried by other dogs and can be yappy if they get too close so will need to be the only pets. Both enjoy their walks in quieter areas and are still active for their age. Tiny and Bobby just need a second chance with an owner who can give them some much deserved TLC.
Wilbur is a wonderful boy with loads of potential. He is two years old and still has a lot to learn, but he's getting there. Unfortunately, he is a real worrier and doesn't like sudden noises or busy environments. He has a tendency to chase traffic and other small animals so he'll need to live in quite a rural area where he has immediate access to peaceful walks directly from his home. He prefers his own company and is not one for much fuss. He really enjoys playing with his toys and he's slowly learning how to include people in his games. Tug seems to be his current favourite! Wilbur needs a home with understanding, patient owners who are willing to continue his training. He needs an adult only environment with people who will give him the space he needs and love him just as he is. He will initially need you around all the time to settle him in. He is not keen on other dogs and has a strong natural chase instinct so cannot share his home with any other pets. He'll need a secure garden with 6ft fence.
Willow is bubbly two-year old Staffy who really needs a chance to shine. She is full of bouncy personality, very playful and enjoys a good fuss once she knows you. You will need to put in the time and effort before she shows her true self as she can be a little shy to begin with. If you let her come round in her own time though you'll soon be best friends forever! She appears to be fine travelling in a car and has a history of being housetrained, although will likely need a little refresher as she settles in to her new home. Willow can't share her home with another dog for now, and will need to continue building her dog socialising skills. To help her settle she will need to live in an area that isn't overly populated with dogs. Her playful nature will suit children over 16 but no younger. She will need someone around all the time as she gets used to her new home but eventually should be fine to be left for a few hours if built up slowly. A secure garden for her to play in and burn off her energy would be ide
