Dogs Trust in Leeds has several dogs and puppies and these are the ones that currently need rehoming (all photos from Dogs Trust Leeds):
7. Duke
Duke has got plenty of brains and plenty of energy too, so he is looking for a home with an active family who are quick on their toes and have an interest in training. Duke lacks some skills in several areas of his life (largely around self-control), although given the right training plan he will continue to hone these skills in a home, as he has started to do in centre. Duke is looking for an adult only home, although he is friendly, he can get OTT quite easily. This is also true for his interactions with dogs, so he needs to be the only pet in the home for now, although he could certainly build up to having some four-legged walking friends. In order to set him up for success, he'll need access to walks in quieter spaces, where he won't see lots of dogs every time he goes out. This will give both him and his new owners the best chance to work on his behaviour when out and about. He isn't used to being left for long periods of time, so initially he'd need his family around to help him settle. He's an enthusia
Eddie is a sweet lad who has just retired from his racing career. He enjoys playing with squeaky toys and is great to go out on a nice walk with. Since he has a high prey drive he wears a muzzle out and about but he's not bothered by it at all. Eddie is manageable around other dogs but prefers to be walked in quieter areas where they won't be in his face. This also means he can't share his home with any other pets. He is house trained and likes to be up on the sofa for a snooze so relaxed house rules are a must. Eddie will need a secure garden so he has somewhere to explore and enjoy occasional zoomies off lead. He will need an adult only home as he can be uncomfortable around children. Eddie is used to having owners around all the time but once set in his new routine he should be fine to be left for a few hours so may suit a part time worker.
Three-year-old Else is a big, daft girl who is lively and fun. She is very excitable and can be all legs so not suitable for families with children. Elsa would benefit from some basic training so her new owners must be prepared for this as she needs to learn some self control and calming behaviours. An enclosed garden is essential for Elsa as she needs an area for off lead exercise and to burn off some of that excess energy. Elsa will need an active family as she loves her walks. She is very OTT with other dogs that could get her into trouble so needs to learn a few manners around other dogs. She would need to be the only dog in the household. Elsa will take time to settle into her new home so will need her owners to be around all the time initially. Once she has found her feet Elsa should be fine for a few hours on her own as she is not used to being alone for long.
Jake is a very handsome six year old Lurcher. He is one of life's worriers though. He can be shy when he first meets you, but he's easily won over if you've got a few treats in your pocket! Once he knows you he is the softest lad you could meet. He just loves cuddling up with you and is so affectionate. He likes his walks and he also loves lounging on a sofa, a good walk somewhere quiet will keep him happy. He's manageable around other dogs but he doesn't like them in his personal space however he is happy to wear a muzzle out and about. Jake doesn't like being left on his own so he'll need his owners around all the time initially. He'll need to be the only pet in an adult only home where there will be no visiting children at all. He'll also need a good sized secure garden. Most importantly though, he needs owners who will share their sofa with him and who enjoy LOTS of cuddles! Jake will need multiple visits to get to know him before he is ready to fly the nest.
Lyle is a lovely lad who has a lot of potential in the right hands. He's three years old and although he's old enough to know better, he does still lack self-control! He's absolutely full of beans and always on the go so will need a lot of patience from his owners as he learns the ropes of home life. He'll need very dedicated people who have a good understanding of dog training and who are passionate about gradually bringing out Lyle's potential. He is extremely strong on lead so you must be able to confidently handle him out and about. He is a very intelligent dog and very willing to learn. His love of food really helps when doing training tasks with him. If you are looking for a smart boy who enjoys lots of interaction and will be a bit of an ongoing project, then Lyle is your boy!
Major is big handsome American bulldog who at 11-years-old needs to find a new family to call his own. He can be a little shy when you first meet him but comes round quickly if there are some tasty treats coming his way! He's a very sweet lad who can get very playful when the mood takes him. He enjoys his walkies too but he is very strong on his lead so not for the faint of heart. He has a history of being housetrained but may need a little refresher as he settles in to his new life. One thing is for sure, with Major around you'll never be lost for affection! He cannot live with very young children but over 14s will be fine, as long as they're happy around larger dogs. He is fine around other dogs when out and about but doesn't like to share his home so he'll need to be the only pet. He will need someone around all the time, but that just means more fun and snuggles with him! Major has a few medical issues and new adopters will need to take these costs into account.
