More than 500 workers held up signs with their names to back the drive for compassionate care, as Dr Granger’s husband Chris Pointon works at Asda House.

The consultant in elderly medicine, who is terminally ill with cancer, started the campaign after noticing how few medical staff treating her introduced themselves. It has now been adopted by hospitals and healthcare facilities across the world.

Earlier this week, Dr Granger’s fundraising for the Yorkshire Cancer Centre hit the landmark £250,000.
