GCSE Results Leeds: Live updates as results day 2023 arrives for pupils across the city

The big day is a time of celebration, regardless of the grades you receive, for the culmination of hard work on coursework assignments and exam revision. GCSE results in England are expected to drop for a second year running today, bringing them back in line with 2019 levels.
In England the A*-G grades have been replaced with a 9-1 system, where 9 is the highest. A grade 4 is broadly equivalent to a C grade, and a grade 7 is broadly equivalent to an A.

Councillor Jonathan Pryor, Leeds City Council’s executive board member for economy, culture and education said:
“I’d like to congratulate everyone in Leeds receiving their results today. We all know that the last three years have been turbulent for them and they have shown determination and resilience to get to this point.
“Well done to the great staff in all our schools and colleges and to their families who have supported our young people on their learning journeys over the past years.
“Many of our young people have now got the qualifications they need to take their next steps and begin exciting careers at sixth forms, colleges, and apprenticeship providers in Leeds. I wish them all the very best for the future.”
Bradford City Academy footballers celebrate top GCSE results
Two Bradford City AFC rising academy stars are celebrating receiving 10 top GCSE grades each.
Oliver Thompson and Eni Rotimi, both students at The Grammar School at Leeds (GSAL), were recently awarded prestigious under-17 scholarships at Bradford Academy. Oliver, a central midfielder, achieved six grade 9s and four grade 8s, while Eni, a forward, achieved the top grade of 9 in PE and 6s, 7s and 8s in nine other subjects.

Wetherby swimmer celebrates top GCSE results
Wetherby resident, Kourosh Khodakhah, a talented swimmer who has represented Team GB in the European Youth Olympics Festival, has bagged a set of outstanding GCSE results with 7 grade 9s, 2 grade 8s and a grade 7.
Kourosh,16, a student at The Grammar School at Leeds (GSAL), trains up to nine times a week with sessions starting as early as 5am.
