The new landlords of a beloved Leeds pub have promised to bring the party spirit ahead of their takeover, with exciting plans including live music, an expanded menu, and a market in the car park.

Business partners Ryan Edwards, 54, and Randall Butler, 40, are set to take over the running of The Mustard Pot in Chapel Allerton later this month.

The duo, who both work at Butler’s Barbering, said they’d waste no time in shaking things up, with plenty of ideas to attract customers.

They include expanding the popular Chapel Allerton Market, which is run by Ryan, into the car park of the well-loved watering hole.

He said: “It has become so big now that it just makes sense for us to go into the pub, it’s just next door. There are already 75 stalls - and we’re hoping to have food trucks in the car park at the weekend.”

Ryan has been involved in running bars previously, while Randall will use his experience in the music industry to put on a packed schedule of events.

“Every Friday, we’re going to have live singalongs, and on Saturdays, it’ll be disco and funk DJs from 8pm. We’re even going to do drag brunches and open mic nights – it’s going to be very music-based,” Ryan added.

“Because the price of alcohol has gone up, people want to be entertained when they come out. If there is entertainment in a bar, it’s always the busiest night of the week.”

The team said that customers at the pub, which is known for its attractive beer garden, can also expect a revamp of the menu.

They explained that working as barbers nearby offered the perfect opportunity to conduct their own market research and find out exactly what drinkers want from their local boozer.

Throughout December, there will be a marquee in the outdoor space which will be transformed into a Winter Wonderland.

Ryan and Randall are set to take over the running of the pub on October 21.
