Lidl confirms opening date for major new store next week - with 40 jobs created
The grand opening will take place next week
Lidl has confirmed the opening date for its new store in Birstall next week
The store will open at 8am on Thursday, November 5, with Mayor of Kirklees, Coun Karen Allison, carrying out the ribbon cutting ceremony.
Members of the public have been invited to join the Lidl team for the grand opening celebrations.

Up to 40 new jobs have been created ahead of the opening.
The retailer said its recruitment for the Bankwood Way site “focused heavily on hiring people who live locally, ensuring the team serving shoppers are part of the fabric of Birstall”.
Early shoppers will be offered complimentary food samples and exclusive deals through the Lidl Plus app as part of the launch.
The development includes rooftop solar panels designed to generate up to 25 per cent of the store’s electricity requirements. A 12-bay ultra-rapid charging hub will also allow customers to charge electric vehicles on site.
Inside, shoppers will find Lidl’s award-winning in-store bakery and its “Middle of Lidl” aisle.
Liam Schofield, regional head of property for Lidl GB, said: “We are incredibly excited to join the local community and businesses in Birstall.
“This fantastic new store is a direct response to the local demand for high-quality, affordable groceries, and we couldn’t be prouder to welcome the community inside.
“A huge thank you to everyone who helped us turn these plans into a reality – we can’t wait to start making a real difference to your weekly shop.”
The Birstall branch will be among the first stores supplied by Lidl’s newest warehouse in Gildersome when it opens early next year.
Its opening hours will be 8am to 10pm from Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.
