Whether you’re planning an intimate wedding in a cosy barn or a grand event with hundreds of guests at one of the city’s hotels, couples-to-be don’t have to travel far to find their perfect venue. We asked Yorkshire Evening Post readers for their recommendations, and they were full of ideas of the most romantic places to get married in the city.
Here are 15 of the best venues in Leeds, as picked by the people who live and have got hitched in the city.
7. Headingley Stadium
Headingley Stadium specialises in weddings for larger parties of up to 450 guests, with views of both the rugby and cricket pitches from its suites. It was recommended by M Matthew Morrison and Joanne Louise, who said: "We had our reception at Headingley Stadium. It was the meaning behind the venue that meant a lot to us. No castle or hotel can replace that." Photo: Gerard Binks
8. Elland Road
Another popular suggestion was Elland Road, or "church" as reader Cherie Norton named the stadium, which hosts weddings across a number of its suites - including the centenary pavilion (pictured). Photo: Mark Bickerdike
9. The Mansion at Leeds Roundhay Park
Set in the grounds of Roundhay Park, The Mansion is an idyllic venue which can seat up to 220 guests for wedding ceremonies and 250 guests for evening receptions. Recommended by reader Carol Holmes, wedding parties can make use of the exclusive entrance and terrace area, or opt for a smaller ceremony in the beautiful Colonnades Room. Photo: Tony Johnson
10. Thorpe Park Hotel and Spa
Thorpe Park Hotel and Spa was recommended by Zoë Cran and Jules Kelly, who said the venue was a "beautiful place". The hotel offers a range of bespoke packages, which all include a dedicated wedding planner and a red carpet welcome on the big day. Photo: Google
11. Kirkstall Abbey
It's the most historical wedding setting in Leeds, with the chance to get hitched in one of the oldest buildings in the city - with more than 860 years of history within its walls. Helen Dahl said: "My step sister got married there and had her baby baptised. Was really beautiful." Photo: James Hardisty
12. Thwaite Watermill
A unique location on the banks of the River Aire, Gill Burton said Thwaite Watermill is an "amazing" wedding venue. The museum has a number of spaces licenced for weddings, including its wheel room, warehouse and orchard mini pavilion. Its gardens include games to keep younger guests entertained - and the paddocks can host street food vans as a catering option. Photo: Google
